Warriors survive scare from Raptors, move to 12-0

As the defending NBA champions and the only undefeated squad left standing, the Golden State Warriors will be facing first-rate efforts from all future opponents until their magical run eventually ends.

On Tuesday night at Oracle Arena, Stephen Curry and company were pushed to the limit by a motivated Toronto Raptors squad, winning a hard-fought contest (at least in the second half) by a score of 115-110 to extend their winning streak to 12 games.

It was a tale of two halves for the Raptors, who trailed 63-47 at halftime after getting outscored 34-22 in the second quarter. Toronto turned the tide coming out of the locker room, though, outscoring Golden State by nine points in the third.

The lead was eventually cut to a single point late in the game at 109-108, but a controversial offensive foul call on Kyle Lowry and a pair of free throws by Curry sealed the victory for the Warriors.

Curry scored 30 points or more for the eighth time in 12 games, dropping 37 on 13-of-23 shooting from the field, 5-of-10 from 3-point range, and 6-of-7 from the charity stripe. He also chipped in nine assists and two steals in 40 minutes of action.

Klay Thompson, who missed Golden State's recent win over the Brooklyn Nets with a bad back, returned to the lineup to score 19 points and drain two buckets from behind the arc.

Toronto was led by a pair of 28-point outings from Lowry and DeMar DeRozan, who combined for 25 of the team's 39 trips to the free-throw line.

The Warriors need three more wins to tie the NBA record for most consecutive victories to begin a season, which is currently held by the 1993-94 Houston Rockets.

Their next opportunity to put another one in the win column will come Thursday night, when they do battle with Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center. The Raptors will be back on the court Wednesday for their second game of a back-to-back against the Utah Jazz.
