Porzingis' zing on crying Knicks kid: 'He already has my jersey'
In the moments after the New York Knicks selected Kristaps Porzingis fourth overall in June's draft, confusion and disgust overtook some Knickerbocker fans. One child even appeared to cry, while demonstrating his displeasure with the universal sign of disapproval: the thumbs-down sign. Also, he appeared to take a selfie of all this.
The meme that at the time encapsulated the fan base's fury over the pick has since become a point of ridicule, and Porzingis brought up an intriguing possibility Tuesday.
Porzingis' zing could be directed at more than the boy. Many Knicks fans decried the selection of the 7-foot-3 Latvian as a wasted pick. Now most, if not all, of them are fully ensconced on his bandwagon, so much so that the league sold out of Porzingis jerseys earlier this month.
The 20-year-old Porzingis has already demonstrated a level of maturity and sophistication in regard to playing in the oft-thankless New York market.
"I wanted to be in New York because I love pressure," he said last week.
One-liners like Tuesday's will only endear him further to the Gotham faithful.
