Cavaliers rest LeBron James vs. Heat

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James will not suit up against the Miami Heat on Saturday.

Head coach David Blatt opted to rest James after he logged 45 minutes in an overtime loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday.

Blatt was sure to add that there are "no physical problems" with James, and that he is thinking for the long run on James' behalf. Nevertheless, it's an undeniable fact that James has at times looked labored, and his jump shot has been misfiring for quite some time.

James has also played an extraordinary number of minutes since making his debut in 2003. For reference, the 30-year-old has already logged more minutes than Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and Isaiah Thomas did in their entire careers.

It goes without saying that James is paramount to the Cavaliers' success. He's averaging 26.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 6.5 assists in 36.9 minutes per game this season.

Richard Jefferson is expected to start in place of James.
