Report: Jahlil Okafor to be accompanied by security guard
Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor is taking actions to protect himself after a thoroughly embarrassing week of transgressions,
Okafor's handlers have asked the Sixers to provide Okafor with security guard, and the team plans to honor that request, ESPN's Chris Broussard reports.
"A lot of teams do that for their players anyway,'' a source told Broussard. "So from now on, the Sixers are going to have someone at his disposal full-time.''
Okafor allegedly punched a man outside a bar in Boston last week. Authorities in Boston are looking into the case after the alleged victim filed charges.
It also came to light that Okafor had a gun pulled on him in a previous altercation in which he tried to punch a man through the window of a moving vehicle. The Sixers declined to comment on the situation, but acknowledged that there is an ongoing investigation into the case.
A third report emerged Sunday, revealing that Okafor was stopped for driving 108 mph over the Ben Franklin Bridge three weeks ago. The speed limit is 45.
To Okafor's credit, he took responsibility for his actions over social media.
