Philly honors Kobe: 'We knew you before the world did'
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports
The Philadelphia 76ers don't have much to cheer about on the floor this season, but their game ops department does excellent videos.
The Sixers put together a video tribute to retiring Los Angeles Lakers star, and Philly native, Kobe Bryant prior to Tuesday's game.
Bryant's father Joe (Jellybean) Bryant played for the 76ers from 1975 to 1979, the period when Kobe was born. He attended Lower Merion High School in the Main Line suburbs before being drafted by the Charlotte Hornets, who then traded him to the Lakers, in 1996.
Prior to tipoff, Sixers legend Julius Erving joined Bryant's high school coach Gregg Downer in presenting him a Lower Merion jersey.
