Mavs' Harris sustains hamstring injury
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports
The Dallas Mavericks will have to do battle with the Indiana Pacers without the services of backup guard Devin Harris.
As Dwain Price of the Star Telegram reports, Harris suffered a hamstring injury in the first quarter of Wednesday's game and will not return.
The 32-year-old Harris has given the Mavericks a familiar presence off the bench. Now in his seventh season in Dallas, Harris is averaging 7.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game while chipping in with his usual defensive tenacity off the bench.
Fortunately, the Mavericks have a wealth of options in the backcourt to make up for Harris' absence. J.J. Barea figures to be their first guard off the bench behind starter Deron Williams.
