Report: Rondo hasn't reached out to referee Bill Kennedy

They say actions speak louder than words, and Rajon Rondo's actions in the wake of his homophobic tirade against referee Bill Kennedy have painted a different picture than the words contained in his two subsequent apologies.

Rondo, who returned from his one-game suspension Friday night, was criticized for tweeting what many felt to be a "non-apology" after the nature of his verbal assault was revealed, so he released a statement the following day, effectively apologizing for his own lack of contrition the first time around.

"I want to be clear, from the bottom of my heart that I am truly sorry for what I said to Bill," Rondo said. "There is no place on or off the court for language that disrespects anyone's sexual orientation."

And yet, Rondo still hasn't reached out to Kennedy to apologize personally, USA Today's Sam Amick reports:

According to two people with knowledge of the situation, there have been no interactions of any kind between the 29-year-old former All-Star and Kennedy.

Rondo’s silence has extended well beyond Kennedy, as he has not spoken at the three media sessions that have taken place since the story broke Tuesday (two practices and Friday morning’s shootaround in Minneapolis).

NBA commissioner Adam Silver explained Wednesday that he might've suspended Rondo for longer than one game, had he not been concerned about a more austere punishment inadvertently outing Kennedy - who ended up coming out three days after the suspension was handed down.

Rondo had 11 points and 13 assists against the Minnesota Timberwolves in his return to the court Friday.
