Celtics' Smart could return Sunday vs. Knicks
The Boston Celtics could finally have sophomore point guard Marcus Smart back in the lineup Sunday when they face the New York Knicks.
The team announced that Smart is fully healthy and may play versus the Knicks, but he would be on a minutes restriction.
Smart hasn't played since Nov. 20 after suffering a leg injury against the Brooklyn Nets.
A member of the 2015 NBA All-Rookie Second Team, Smart has yet to make much of an offensive impact in his second year. The Oklahoma State alumnus is shooting just 33 percent from the field and 23.8 percent on 3-pointers.
While Smart was a starter prior to the injury, there's no guarantee he'll return to that role. The Celtics' backcourt of Isaiah Thomas and Avery Bradley is combining for averages of 36.3 points and 8.7 assists.
