Markieff Morris apologizes to Suns, returns to team
As the Phoenix Suns' season continues to unravel, their best non-injured player has made efforts to bury the hatchet with his team.
Markieff Morris apologized to his coach and teammates on Tuesday, and rejoined the team for practice that same day, according to The Arizona Republic's Paul Coro.
Phoenix brass asked the five-year veteran to atone for his detrimental conduct - namely his recent towel-throwing infraction - and the 6-foot-10 power forward responded swiftly and accordingly.
The 26-year-old Philadelphia native also expressed remorse via Twitter.
"We definitely had a successful meeting and I’m just happy to be back," Morris commented in regards to his sit down with team management.
Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek added his two cents on the matter: "We kind of put it out there what we wanted from him, what we expected."
Regarding the team's expectations of their talented "stretch four," Hornacek added, "He's been good for us in the past. We want him to get back to playing like he did last year. It's been a struggle this year. We basically tried to get a feel if he was good for that. He said he wanted to get back and help his teammates and help us win."
Morris lost $145,455 in earnings due to his two-game suspension.
It will be interesting to see how Hornacek uses Morris in Wednesday's game versus the San Antonio Spurs, and how the big man responds to whatever playing time he's given.
