The NBA has elected to ban midcourt sideline television cameras effective immediately, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.

When the Memphis Grizzlies and Denver Nuggets met at the Pepsi Center on Jan. 21, NBA official Scott Wall tripped over a cameraman and rolled his ankle, forcing him from the game.

The National Basketball Referees Association had reportedly pushed for the change to be made.

As Windhorst points out, with more and more teams looking to light it up from behind the arc, officials are forced to alter their positioning, leaving them vulnerable to idle cameramen filming low angles.
