Losers of ten straight and on pace for the worst record in franchise history, the Los Angeles Lakers have focused their efforts on bettering the community.

The team signed Make-A-Wish recipient Yitzi Teichman to a one-day contract Sunday, giving the 18-year-old cancer patient the opportunity to suit up for his favorite team.

Equipped with a charming personality, Teichman joked around when describing his adventure to the NBA.

"It's either you gotta be good at basketball or have cancer," Teichman told Joey Ramirez of Lakers.com. "So I went with the cancer route."

Teichman is just 10 months removed from undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumor. Prior to the operation, Kobe Bryant wished the Baltimore native luck through an Instagram message.

Despite his confident persona and the Lakers' ineptitude, Teichman was realistic about his chances of entering Sunday's contest, saying he'd probably stay on the bench because "that's where I find myself in most sports."
