Chris Martin thinks LeBron James plays football
There's no rule that says Super Bowl 50 halftime performers need to know about football, but c'mon Chris Martin.
The Coldplay frontman has consistently downplayed his knowledge of American football, going so far as to say he knows "nothing" about the game on Thursday. Martin followed up that statement with a tongue-in-cheek reference to another superstar athlete.
"So as long as LeBron James has a good game, we'll be fine," Martin said with a smirk.
If you'd like to see Martin's signing chops you can watch him and James Corden do some "Carpool Karaoke" through the streets of San Francisco.
Coldplay members gave a peek behind the curtain at Thursday's press conference, indicating they're planning to pay homage to halftime shows from the past when the lights come on Sunday.
''We've watched all of the other halftime shows many times and most of them are fantastic,'' Martin said. ''I think we're going to try to celebrate those other years and hopefully make a show as memorable as some of our favorites.''
