VIDEO: Jeff Green scores on own basket, Grizzlies lose to Blazers in OT
This wasn't the way the Memphis Grizzlies had planned to execute the final play of the game.
With 7.6 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter in Monday's contest versus the visiting Portland Trail Blazers, all the Grizzlies had to do was force their opponent to take a bad shot and collect the defensive rebound in order to secure the two-point victory.
Instead, Damian Lillard's patented step-back 3-point shot attempt - which would have put the Blazers up a point had it gone in - drew a double-team from Matt Barnes, leaving Gerald Henderson completely unaccounted for.
As C.J. McCollum's wide-open putback attempt bounced off the right side of the rim, Jeff Green was left to box out three different Blazers - Ed Davis, Allen Crabbe, and Henderson - all vying for the offensive tip-in.
Unfortunately for Green, it was him - not any of the aforementioned Blazers - who got his hand on the ball as it was guided into the Grizzlies' basket.
Although Crabbe was credited with the bucket, Henderson's hustle won the heart of one particular Rip City fan.
The buzzer sounded, with the Grizzlies stunned and the Blazers elated, as both teams prepared for overtime.
Memphis - now 30-22 - went on to lose the nail-biter 112-106 as Portland improved to 26-27.
