Wizards sign JJ Hickson for remainder of season

The Washington Wizards announced Thursday they have signed big man JJ Hickson for the remainder of the 2015-16 season.
Washington recently opened up a roster spot to sign Hickson last week, after trading DeJuan Blair and Kris Humphries in a deal that landed them Markieff Morris.
"Signing J.J. for the remainder of the season gives us another solid veteran who will bring more depth to our frontcourt," Wizards President Ernie Grunfield said Thursday. "His experience, athletic ability, and physical presence will be solid additions to our team as we continue our playoff push."
Hickson is averaging 6.9 points and 4.4 rebounds this season, but saw a total of just 13 minutes since the new calendar year after being buried deep in the Wizards rotation.
The Wizards (26-30) currently sit 10th in the Eastern Conference - three games back of a playoff spot.
