The Miami Heat have officially waived point guard Beno Udrih, the team announced Monday.
The 33-year-old was ruled out for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery Friday on his right foot.
The Heat was below the tax line prior to Joe Johnson's addition over the weekend, and by removing Udrih's contract, they can again balance their books. The 33-year-old served as the primary backup to Goran Dragic before suffering the foot injury Monday against the Indiana Pacers.
In 36 games for the Heat, Udrih averaged 4.4 points, 2.5 assists, and 1.8 rebounds in 16.3 minutes.
