The Houston Rockets are exploring a buyout with point guard Ty Lawson, The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski reports, citing league sources.
The Rockets have met with Lawson's agent, Happy Walters, to discuss potential buyout scenarios for the 28-year-old, Wojnarowski reports.
Houston is already $524,000 under the salary cap, but could get an additional $3.2 million of room if it buys out the rest of Lawson's deal.
The UNC product has struggled mightily during his time in Houston, posting career lows in points per game (6.0), field-goal percentage (38.9), and 3-point percentage (33.3).
Lawson would need to be bought out and waived by March 1st to be added to another team's playoff roster.
