Sixers' Okafor out for season with meniscus tear

Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn meniscus in his right knee, the team announced Friday.
Okafor will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his knee and is expected to miss six weeks - sidelining him for the rest of 2015-16 with the Sixers already eliminated from playoff contention.
While he dealt with some off-court issues earlier in the season, Okafor has been one of the lone bright spots for Philadelphia on the court. The Duke product leads the team in points per game (17.5) and is second in rebounding (7.0).
Okafor's absence should pave the way for Nerlens Noel to slide back to center - his more natural position. The 21-year-old has been productive over his last three contests without Okafor, averaging 15 points, six rebounds, two steals, and one block.
