Report: Chase Budinger to sign with Suns after clearing waivers
Chase Budinger appears to be prioritizing personal opportunity over team success as he seeks a new team with which to finish the 2015-16 season.
Budinger, who was waived by the Indiana Pacers on Saturday, intends to sign with the Phoenix Suns once he clears waivers, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.
While he was being squeezed out of the Pacers' wing rotation, averaging a career-low 14.9 minutes per game, Budinger figures to have a better chance of getting extended run with the moribund Suns. The oft-injured swingman will have some 20 games to sell himself before hitting free agency in the summer.
The 27-year-old averaged 4.4 points and 2.5 rebounds, while shooting 41.8 percent from the field and 29 percent from beyond the arc in his first and only season with the Pacers.
The Suns should have an opening on their roster, as they reportedly waived Sonny Weems on Saturday.
