NBA says Irving got away with foul on game-saving steal vs. Mavs
Kyrie Irving helped the Cleveland Cavaliers avoid an ignominious defeat against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night, stealing an entry pass meant for Dirk Nowitzki in the dying seconds of regulation to preserve a one-point win in a game the Cavs had led by as many as 20.
Turns out, Irving himself got some help on the play.
According to the NBA's Last Two Minute Report published Thursday, Irving should've been whistled for a foul on the play. Here's the report's description of the offense:
Irving (CLE) makes contact with Nowitzki's (DAL) midsection as he separates and steals the entry pass.
You be the judge:
In fairness, though this missed call came at the worst time for Dallas, it was one of just six incorrect calls or non-calls made in the final two minutes of the game. Four of them favored the Mavs.
