Wayne Selden Jr. is taking his talents to the pros.

The Kansas guard has declared for the 2016 NBA Draft and will hire an agent, the Jayhawks announced Tuesday. By hiring an agent, Selden won't be able to change course after the combine and return to Kansas for his final season.

"I want to thank the Kansas fans for their support as a Jayhawk over the years. The support is unmatched and has been the driving force in games," Selden said. "I would like to thank each of my brothers. Together we battled through the tough and celebrated the good. Giving our all for one another. I'd also like to thank Coach Self and the entire Kansas basketball staff. I've received three years of meaningful experiences and guidance both on and off the court."

Selden was a three-year starter for Bill Self's squad and averaged 13.8 points per game this season while shooting nearly 40 percent from 3-point range.

"We are all so happy and proud of Wayne for not only how he's played but for how he's represented our school over the last three years," Self said. "After his freshman year and seeing Andrew (Wiggins) and Joel (Embiid) declare after one year, Wayne, his family and our staff spoke that it would probably be after his junior year that the time would be right for him to declare and it has played out to be that way."

The junior is being dubbed a late first-round pick by many, but it remains to be seen how an impressive tournament will impact his stock. Selden was arguably the team's most consistent player, averaging nearly 18 points per game during March Madness.
