Woman who had affair with Bo Ryan sues Wisconsin officials

A woman who had an affair with former Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan has sued university officials, alleging they denied her of due process, defamed her and, invaded her privacy, according to John Hart of the State Journal.

Robin Van Ert filed the complaint against chancellor Rebecca Blank, athletic director Barry Alvarez, and six other university officials.

"As a direct and proximate result of defendants' actions, Van Ert has suffered severe emotional and physical distress and illness, loss of privacy, harm to her reputation, loss of business, and has incurred substantial damages and legal fees," the complaint states.

Ryan, who resigned from his position as head coach on Dec. 15, 2015, when the affair became public, allegedly had a relationship with Van Ert from 2009 until 2014, when she ended the relationship.

In the complaint, Van Ert is seeking compensatory and punitive damages, along with attorney fees.
