Purdue's Basil Smotherman exits program

Purdue forward Basil Smotherman has left the program, the Boilermakers announced Sunday.

In a release, Purdue coach Matt Painter said Smotherman's exit was a mutual decision, after the redshirt junior failed to live up to the standards and expectations of the program.

Smotherman appeared in 18 games this season, averaging 3.9 points and 12.1 minutes per contest.
