Kansas' Josh Jackson charged with misdemeanor property damage
Kansas freshman Josh Jackson has been charged with one count of criminal damage to property, the Douglas County attorney confirmed to Laura Baker of The Kansas City Star.
Reports surfaced earlier this month that Jackson and teammate Lagerald Vick were persons of interest in a vandalism of a women's car. Vick was not charged in the incident.
"Felony criminal damage (damage in excess of $1,000) was not charged because the state cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt that all the damage to the door and tail light were caused by Jackson," the attorney's office said in a release.
According to the release, the car belonged to McKenzie Calvert, the same woman Vick allegedly struck in 2015. Calvert reportedly threw a drink at Vick before heading to her car, where Jackson followed. He allegedly kicked a door and a tail light.
Jackson is averaging 16.5 points per game this season and is expected to be a top pick in this summer's NBA draft.
