Wisconsin's Hayes not thrilled to be in NYC: 'It's dirty, trash everywhere'

Nigel Hayes proved against Villanova he doesn't mind playing under the bright lights, but the bright lights of New York City is a different story.

"I don't really like New York," Hayes said Thursday, according to the New York Daily News' Kevin Armstrong. "It's too big, it's dirty, trash everywhere, too many people. It's cold right now."

Hayes, a senior from Ohio, is with the Badgers in the Big Apple as they get set to take on Florida in the Sweet 16 on Friday.

"I guess it's nice to look at in the movies," Hayes added. "But I've had my fair share. I'm just trying to come here and win some basketball games."

Hayes, however, acknowledged his opinion on the city inhabited by more than 8 million people could be changed in a couple months if he winds up landing on one of New York's professional basketball teams.

"You'd have no choice," the prospective NBA draft pick said. "Something you have to live with."
