Kansas head coach Bill Self and Notre Dame women's head coach Muffet McGraw can now add "Hall of Famer" to their resumes.

The longtime head coaches were among the 11 people elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's class of 2017 on Sunday.

"Even though I was expecting a call to tell me one way or the other, it totally caught me off guard," Self said of the distinction.

"I'm very honored and very humbled because I know there are so many people out there that this game has been their life to them or they have based their entire life promoting and having great success at the game. I feel humbled that I was remotely considered in that group."

Self has been at the helm of Kansas for 14 years. He's won 13 consecutive Big 12 regular-season conference titles, along with a national championship in 2008.

During his 24-year career, Self has won 623 games, which ranks 30th all time. Dating back to his time as coach of Illinois and Tulsa, he's guided his teams to 19 straight NCAA tournament appearances.

Possibly the most impressive stat during Self's Kansas tenure is that he has more Big 12 regular-season titles than home losses at Allen Fieldhouse (10).

McGraw has been a head coach for 35 years, with all but five being at Notre Dame. She guided the Fighting Irish to the 2001 NCAA championship and currently ranks 11th all time in wins with 853.

The 61-year-old was named the Naismith Coach of the Year in 2001 and was twice named Associated Press Coach of the Year (2013, 2014).
