Top-100 recruit decommits from VCU, pledges to NC State
New NC State head coach Kevin Keatts scored his first big win with the program Saturday, and he hasn't even coached a game yet.
Top-100 recruit and four-star guard Lavar Batts Jr. decommitted from VCU and immediately committed to NC State, as shared on his mother's Twitter account.
"Ever since my sophomore year I loved (NC) State," Batts Jr. said to Evan Daniels of Scout. "I always wanted to go to State. After everything that happened I thought about it. I prayed about it and God brought it back in my life. He works in mysterious ways and this was the time he wanted it to happen."
As a senior, Batts averaged 23.3 points for Jay M. Robinson High School in North Carolina. Playing all four years on the varsity team, he averaged 19.9 points throughout his high-school career.
Former VCU head coach Will Wade was hired by LSU on March 21.
