The American Athletic Conference has scheduled a meeting for Friday to vote on admitting Wichita State into the league, sources told Andy Katz of ESPN.
The "general expectation" is that the AAC will vote in favor of adding the school as a non-football member, and Wichita State will begin conference play in the 2017-18 season, according to Pete Thamel of SI.com.
A formal announcement is expected to be made by the weekend.
The Shockers would give the AAC an even 12 full-time members, while keeping the conference at 12 football members, as Wichita State does not sponsor the sport and Navy is a football-only member.
