Murray State AD says school still in mix to join MVC
Murray State athletic director Allen Ward doesn't want to hear his school is out of the running to join the Missouri Valley Conference.
Rumors surfaced Tuesday that Valparaiso would be replacing Wichita State in the MVC - and not Murray State - but Ward vehemently denied his team has been ruled out.
"Absolutely not," Ward told Jeff Bidwell of WPSD. "The (MVC) presidents haven't met or even voted. I was told our site visit was strong and I fully expect us to receive serious consideration amongst the league presidents. I believe we bring as much, if not more, to the table when comparing our history, winning tradition, and incredible fan support."
Ward also took to Twitter to make his point.
With the Shockers' move to the AAC, the MVC is hoping to fill a big void left by one of the premier teams in the country.
