Report: LiAngelo Ball, UCLA teammates released on bail after shoplifting arrest
UCLA guard LiAngelo Ball and two of his teammates were released on bail Wednesday morning in Hangzhou, China, following their arrest for allegedly shoplifting Tuesday, a source told ESPN's Arash Markazi.
Ball, along with Cody Riley and Jalen Hill, were questioned about allegedly swiping sunglasses from a Louis Vuitton shop beside the hotel where the Bruins were staying. The three reportedly must remain at the hotel until the legal process is over.
Both the cops and players involved were respectful in their interactions while at the police station for several hours, a source said, telling Markazi that "none of this was confrontational."
Ball's father, LaVar, reportedly canceled a press conference he meant to hold Tuesday to discuss the allegations.
"Everybody making it a big deal," he said, "It ain't that big of a deal."
He added he'll speak on the matter once he gets "some more intel on what's going on."
LiAngelo, Riley, and Hill will not play Friday against Georgia Tech in Shanghai. The Yellow Jackets were staying at the same hotel as them, and three of their players were also questioned about shoplifting.
