Ball, UCLA teammates suspended indefinitely after shoplifting in China
LiAngelo Ball, Jalen Hill, and Cody Riley have been suspended indefinitely by the UCLA basketball program after being detained for shoplifting sunglasses during their overseas trip to China, head coach Steve Alford said Wednesday, according to Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post.
The trio won't dress for home games at this time, nor will they travel with their fellow Bruins.
"They will have to earn their way back," Alford added, per Chris Chavez of SI.
UCLA athletic director Dan Guerrero said that during a 90-minute break during the first night of the team's excursion, the three players went to three different stores at a mall and stole items.
After being detained, the players were eventually bailed out for approximately $2,200, which was later refunded by Chinese authorities.
