LaMelo, LiAngelo Ball sign 1-year deals in Lithuania
The Ball circus will be making its way to Lithuania.
LaMelo and LiAngelo Ball have signed one-year deals with Lithuanian club Prienu Vytautas, as reported by Shams Charania of The Vertical. They will link up with the club in January.
DraftExpress' Jonathon Givony reports the brothers are not expected to receive a lot of minutes.
According to Givony, players in the Baltic Basketball League generally don't earn more than $500 per month to play, if they receive compensation at all. This would likely represent a flyer for the team, looking to develop American prospects and gain some extra attention.
The team is located in Prienai, Lithuania, a city with a population of around 10,000. The BBL is a far cry from their initial expectations, but as LaVar told Bleacher Report, "I don't care if we play in Cuba, Timbuktu - it don't matter."
LaVar withdrew LiAngelo from UCLA on Dec. 4 after the program suspended the youngster for shoplifting on a team trip to China. He also pulled LaMelo from school on Oct. 2 after telling reporters he didn't like his son's new coach.
