Report: Memphis working on deal to make Penny Hardaway next HC

Memphis is working out the details of a contract that will make former NBA star Penny Hardaway the program's new head coach, a source told Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports.

Former Memphis coach Tubby Smith confirmed earlier Wednesday that he was no longer with the team after weeks of rumors.
After the end of the Tigers' season, reports linked the team to Hardaway as a replacement for Smith.
Hardaway played his college ball at Memphis, spending two seasons with the school and winning Great Midwest Conference Player of the Year honors in both campaigns.
