UNLV's Brandon McCoy declares for NBA draft
UNLV freshman center Brandon McCoy announced via Instagram his intention to enter the 2018 NBA Draft.
The 7-footer was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Year after averaging 16.9 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks this season.
McCoy’s scoring and rebounding totals set Mountain West records for a freshman. He also led the conference with 18 double-doubles.
"Brandon was an amazing addition to our program and helped to legitimize our ability to recruit top-tier talent," Rebels head coach Marvin Menzies said. "I am confident he will have a successful career at the next level based on his dedication, commitment, ability, and overall character."
Although UNLV didn't participate in the 2018 NCAA tournament, McCoy's draft stock is trending toward being a potential first-round selection.
