Zion's Nike PG 2.5 underwent 'autopsy'

Nike was quick to do damage control in the wake of Zion Williamson's PG 2.5 mishap, sending a team to North Carolina the following day that subsequently traveled to China to oversee the production of a stronger shoe for the Duke star.

The company also performed a full "autopsy" on the PG 2.5 to figure out why it broke apart, according to sneaker designer Tobie Hatfield.

"We basically go through what's called an 'autopsy' of the shoe. Any shoe that has issues or potential issues, we just have to go and find out," Hadfield explained to Jeff Yeung of Hypebeast. "Was there a manufacturing issue, design issue, or any of that kind of stuff? It's just a matter of going through the whole shoe and finding out what the issues are and then we go solve them again. It's really no different than how we've been doing it all along."

Williamson wore a pair of modified Nike Kyrie 4s for his return from injury last week, noting afterward that "they felt very comfortable."
