Louisville's David Johnson needs shoulder surgery, could miss 4-6 months
Louisville freshman guard David Johnson suffered a shoulder injury during Monday's practice and could miss four-to-six months after he undergoes surgery, the team announced.
The exact diagnosis wasn't divulged.
"This is tough news on David for sure," Louisville head coach Chris Mack said in a statement. "I feel badly for DJ because of his excitement level to start his college career.
"He was having an excellent summer to date and we will miss him over the next few months. Knowing David's work ethic, he will put in the time to get back as quickly as possible and be ready to impact our team this season."
Johnson is currently ranked 76th on ESPN's list of top recruits and is the Cardinals' third-ranked recruit for the 2019-20 season behind Aidan Igiehon and five-star forward Samuell Williamson.
