NCAA pushes back early-entry withdrawal deadline for NBA draft

The NCAA announced Wednesday that it is pushing back the June 3 deadline for early-entry candidates to withdraw from this year's NBA draft.

"This modification is being made with the health and well-being of our student-athletes in mind, along with their ability to make the most informed decisions during this uncertain time, and is based on the recent announcement by the NBA to postpone the 2020 NBA Draft Combine," NCAA vice-president of basketball Dan Gavitt said.

Under NCAA rules, underclassmen must withdraw by June 3 in order to retain college basketball eligibility. The NBA has a June 15 deadline to withdraw, with players left in the middle usually opting to play overseas.

The NBA postponed the draft lottery and combine May 1. The draft itself is still scheduled for June 25 but is widely expected to be pushed back.
