The 2020 Nike EYBL season has been canceled, the company announced Saturday.
"This was not a decision taken lightly, but the health and safety of our athletes, families, fans, and employees is our top priority. We look forward to bringing the EYBL back in 2021," read the company's statement.
The EYBL provides a significant platform for top-ranked high school recruits, most notably through the Peach Jam national recruiting showcase. The annual tournament, staged for the past 25 years in South Carolina, features three ages divisions: 17-Under, 16-Under, and 15-Under.
Nike doesn't plan to stage any recruiting events in 2020 even if the NCAA holds an evaluation period, according to 247 Sports' Evan Daniels.
