New Mexico commit J.B. White shot and killed
Class of 2021 New Mexico commit and 18-year-old basketball standout J.B. White was shot and killed Friday night in Santa Fe, N.M., the county sheriff's office confirmed to ESPN's Myron Medcalf.
Officers responded to a 911 call about a home shooting around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. "(White) was the victim of the shooting," spokesperson Juan Rios said. "He passed away as a result of his injuries at the residence."
White, a star at Santa Fe High School, was ranked No. 100 in the 2021 ESPN 100. Just on Wednesday, the teen posted a video on Twitter with him dunking over two people.
The Lobos program tweeted out news of the tragedy Saturday.
