2021 5-star recruit Caleb Houstan commits to Michigan

Five-star forward Caleb Houstan has committed to Michigan's 2021 class, he's told ESPN's Jonathan Givony.

Houstan is the No. 10 prospect on the 2021 ESPN 100 list.

The 6-foot-8 Montverde Academy product is the Wolverines' highest-ranked commit since at least 2007, according to Givony.

Houstan credited his decision to Michigan's persistence in the recruitment process and a bond forged with head coach Juwan Howard.

"Michigan really showed that they wanted me and that I was going to be a key part of their program," he said. "They were invested in me as a player and really took the time to get to know my game. They run a system that I know I can do well in.

"I also developed great relationships with their coaching staff. Coach Howard led my recruitment and was involved throughout the entire process; Coach Washington as well and Coach Martelli were all great too."

The gifted 3-point shooter is considered one of the more talented wing scorers in the entire recruitment class. He played with Canada at the U16 FIBA Americas Championship in 2019, averaging 22.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and two assists in the competition despite the national side's loss to the United States in the final.

The Mississauga, Ontario native joins four-star guards Frankie Collins, Kobe Bufkin, and Isaiah Barnes, as well as three-star forward Will Tschetter, in Michigan's 2021 class.
