Herbert Jones, Oats among SEC award winners

The Southeastern Conference announced its annual award winners and All-SEC team selections Tuesday.

Alabama senior forward Herbert Jones earned SEC Player of the Year and SEC Defensive Player of the Year honors after averaging 10.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and one block per game. Crimson Tide head coach Nate Oats won SEC Coach of the Year.

A pair of Arkansas players took home hardware as well, with Moses Moody securing SEC Freshman of the Year and teammate JD Notae being recognized as SEC Sixth Man of the Year.
