Report: Georgia plans to hire Mike White as new head coach
Georgia is planning to hire Florida bench boss Mike White as its new head coach, sources told CBS Sports' Matt Norlander.
The Bulldogs fired Tom Crean on Thursday after a 47-75 record after just four seasons in Athens.
White has spent the last seven campaigns at the helm of the Gators, leading them to four NCAA Tournaments and a 142-88 record overall. His best season came in 2016-17 when he led the program to the Elite Eight. White came to Florida after spending the first four years of his head coaching career with Louisiana Tech.
The 45-year-old's future in Gainesville was in question after a 19-13 campaign, his third straight failing to reach 20 wins.
White takes over a Georgia program that has struggled mightily in recent history, reaching the Big Dance just three times in the last 20 years and coming off a 6-26 record in 2021-22.
