Iowa State freshman phenom Tyrese Hunter is entering the NCAA's transfer portal, he announced on Monday.
Hunter was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year last season after averaging 11 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.9 assist per game.
The four-star prospect from Racine, Wisconsin, was a massive part of Iowa State's impressive turnaround over the last two years. The program went 2-22 in 2021 before owning a 22-13 mark with a March Madness Sweet 16 berth in 2022.
Hunter was especially key in the No. 11 Cyclones' Round of 64 victory over 6-seed LSU, hitting seven 3-pointers en route to a game-high 23 points.
Rumors that Hunter could transfer to North Carolina before entering the portal were shut down by Iowa State Daily's Matt Belinson last week.
