Xavier forward Zach Freemantle is set to have season-ending foot surgery Tuesday, a source told Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Freemantle experienced pain while ramping up toward a return, Rothstein adds. The fourth-year star has been sidelined since Jan. 28 because of the ailment.
He averaged 15.2 points and 8.1 rebounds this season for the Musketeers, who are the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Big East tournament.
Xavier will face the winner of Seton Hall versus DePaul in the quarterfinals of the tournament Thursday.
