Purdue star Zach Edey was named the recipient of the 2023 Naismith Men's Player of the Year award Sunday.
The Toronto-born center received all but one of the 58 votes cast by a media panel to earn The Associated Press men's player of the year on Friday.
Edey dominated at both ends as a junior for Purdue, registering 22.3 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks through 34 games this season. The 7-foot-4 center led his squad to the NCAA Tournament, but the Boilermakers were stunned in the first round by 16th-seed Fairleigh Dickinson.
