UConn will retire Richard "Rip" Hamilton's No. 32 jersey at halftime of the Huskies' game against Villanova on Feb. 24, the school's men's basketball team announced Tuesday.

Hamilton will become the second UConn men's basketball player to have their jersey hung in the rafters, joining Ray Allen's No. 34.

A two-time All-American, Hamilton led UConn to its first NCAA championship in 1999, beating Duke in the final. He was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four that year and led the tournament in scoring, dropping 145 points over six contests.

Hamilton ranks second to Chris Smith on the Huskies' all-time scoring list, recording 2,036 points over three seasons. The pair are the only two in school history to record more than 2,000 points.

The Washington Wizards drafted Hamilton seventh overall in 1999. He earned three All-Star nods in his career and won a championship with the Detroit Pistons in 2004 before the franchise retired his No. 32 jersey in 2017.
