Oklahoma State parts ways with head coach Boynton
Oklahoma State parted ways with head coach Mike Boynton, the school announced on Thursday.
The Cowboys are coming off a 12-20 season that ended with a 77-62 loss to UCF in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament on Tuesday.
Boynton spent seven years at the helm of the Oklahoma State program. He took the team to the NCAA Tournament in 2021, advancing to the Round of 32 with future No. 1 NBA draft pick Cade Cunningham running the show.
"Coach Boynton has led this program and represented this university with class," said athletic director Chad Weiberg. "We're grateful for the genuine passion and care he has had for the student-athletes on our team. Unfortunately, the desired results have not followed."
That 2021 campaign was the only time in Boynton's tenure the team finished above .500 in Big 12 play. His 4-14 in-conference mark this season was the program's worst since 2016.
Boynton finishes his time in Stillwater with a 119-109 record.
