Dan Hurley's decision is coming soon.

The veteran coach plans to decide whether to remain with his defending-champion Connecticut team, or become the next bench boss of the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday, he told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Hurley said he met Lakers vice president and general manager Rob Pelinka and owner Jeanie Buss in Los Angeles on Friday. He added that they presented a "compelling vision" and that he left the meeting "extremely impressed."

Pelinka and Buss formally spoke with Hurley about how his tactical prowess and history of player development could fit with the legendary Lakers brand.

Hurley reportedly spent Sunday weighing a massive, long-term offer to move to the NBA.

The 51-year-old led the Huskies to back-to-back NCAA titles this season, the first time a school has accomplished that feat since Florida did so in 2006-07. Over six seasons with the program, the New Jersey native has recorded a 141-58 record.

He has been the Lakers' leading candidate since they began the search process, according to Wojnarowski. The franchise has reportedly done due diligence with other candidates, including former NBA sharpshooter JJ Redick and New Orleans Pelicans associate head coach James Borrego. The latter had two in-person meetings in L.A. with the franchise.

The Lakers believe Hurley can help improve some of team's younger players, including Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, and Max Christie. L.A. also picks 17th in June's draft.

The organization parted ways with Darvin Ham after losing in the first round of the playoffs to the Denver Nuggets. He went 94-70 in two seasons as head coach.
