P.J. Hairston not enrolled for spring semester at UNC
CHAPEL HILL, N.C - P.J. Hairston is no longer enrolled as a student at North Carolina.
In an email Thursday, team spokesman Steve Kirschner said Hairston isn't enrolled for spring semester classes according to the university registrar's office. The Tar Heels' leading scorer never played this season after the school decided last month not to seek his reinstatement for NCAA rules violations, including using rental vehicles tied to a felon and party promoter in Durham.
Hairston wore a suit and sat on from the bench for home games through the fall semester until the Northern Kentucky game on Dec. 27, a week after the school's decision.
In an email, Hairston family spokeswoman Crystal Howard said the family had no plans to make any statements Thursday.
Spring semester classes began Wednesday in Chapel Hill.
