Dismissed Maryland freshman Trayvon Reed commits to Auburn
7-foot-1 former Maryland recruit Trayvon Reed, who was dismissed from the Terrapins program a month ago after being arrested for petty theft, resisting arrest, and assaulting a police officer, has found a new home at Auburn, reports Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Auburn has suffered five straight losing seasons, and hasn't made the NCAA Tournament since 2003, but new coach Bruce Pearl is looking to overhaul the scuffling program.
Earlier in the week, he picked up one of the top junior college recruits in the country in guard T.J. Dunans, and he's turned the Tigers' 2015 recruiting class into a top-five unit.
Reed, the 77th-ranked player and 9th-ranked center in the 2014 class, per 247Sports' composite rankings, is expected to enroll in prep school for the fall semester and become eligible to play beginning in December.
