Minnesota's Daquien McNeil arrested on domestic assault charges
Minnesota guard Daquein McNeil is being held without bail after being arrested on two counts of domestic assault in Minneapolis, according to Amelia Rayno of The Star Tribune.
The criminal report reveals allegations of second-degree domestic assault and domestic assault by strangulation against his girlfriend at an apartment near campus. McNeil and his girlfriend allegedly fought on Monday morning and he tore off her clothes, hit her multiple times with a large belt, choked her and poured cold water on her, the police report read.
Minnesota athletic director Norwood Teague announced in a statement that McNeil has been suspended from all basketball team activities pending an investigation into the alleged assault.
McNeil was expected to be a key member of the team this season.
